Hi Chris : Hope you are well and thank you for receiving my earlier call. As discussed having excavated close to his existing property to investigate the suitability of the existing foundations to construct a two storey extension my client unearthed an existing 450mm diameter earthenware drainage pipe. Upon further investigation it was discovered that the pipe was redundant but I felt it was sensible to contact you to investigate it further prior to starting the ground works. I have also contacted the YWA who have accepted that the pipe is not in their ownership. Having engaged a local independent building inspector ( James Bourke ) he has also advised that we should find out who the pipe belongs to before designing the appropriate foundations. I also attach a number of photographs of the pipe which may offer an indication of who could be the owner.
