Thanks for your letter dated 5th October in reference to Loft Conversion @ 157 Whitehall road, Wyke, Bradford, West Yorkshire, BD12 9LE
I had emailed you on the 10th July 2017 providing you a copy of the electrical certificate and my last email (dated 1st September 2017) confirmed the Final Inspection of the works had been carried out and we were waiting for the issuing of the final certificate to conclude matters with yourselves, so I am a little confused.
So to confirm, all three inspections have been carried out, is there anything else you need from us other than payment? I have attached copies of emails sent to you previously.
I would like to take this opportunity to ask some questions around the inspections.
We've recently had a letter from the council saying that the gable end has not been built to the plan and it requiring planning permission. As this was the first thing that was built and was there on all three of your inspections, why was this not picked up by the inspector?
We don't claim to understand the plans / building work involved and had no idea that what the builders had built was incorrect. I believed that is the reason why we required your services.
The builders have since moved on and not answering to any of our calls / requests to get in touch with us to return to resolve any of the issues we have raised with them and are nowhere to be found. By the looks of it, we are unlikely to see / engage with them again, so we are a bit stuck in that sense.
We've tried to get a retrospective planning permission with Bradford Council but this has been declined.
As we are unable to get the builders to come back and resolve and the costs of rectifying what's been highlighted is simply not affordable, do you have any leverage with the council that might help with the situation?
